Agricultura familiar camponesa e cultura alimentar: hábitos e práticas alimentares das famílias rurais da Linha Simonetti - Ivorá/RS

Abstract

This study takes support in the premise that it is important to know the food culture, the habits and the food practices, as well as the ways of production of food in the family farming. It is taken as empirical reference the community of Linha Simonetti, in the municipal district of Ivorá, due to the potential to maintain alive their identities and traditions in the collective memory and in the knowing how to do of the farmers’ families. This study aims to investigate how the habits and food practices that characterize the food culture are reproduced among the rural families that are descendants of Italian immigrants from the Fourth Colony, in the community of Linha Simonetti in the municipal district of Ivorá, Rio Grande do Sul. For the elaboration of this dissertation, first it was carried out a theoretical study, from the contribution of sociology and anthropology of food. In the sequence, the empirical work using as instrument of research the participant observation and semi-structured interviews. The case study that was accomplished in Linha Simonetti shows that the community through generations preserve their food culture, their habits and traditional food practices observed in the knowing how to do inherited of the last generations, and feature characteristics of rural life style present in the rural communities in the Fourth Colony of Italian Immigration.
