Análise do gerenciamento interno dos resíduos em um hospital do noroeste do Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

With the increasing of amount waste generated by human activities around the world, laws has been created in order to minimize negative impacts to the human and environment health. Waste management is a factor of concern, and stand out hospital waste. This study aimed to analyze the internal management practices of Health Services Waste in a northwestern Hospital of Rio Grande do Sul, called "Hospital A". Was made a qualitative research, characterized as exploratory research, and data were collected by direct and systematic observation and semi-structured interviews, which were analyzed by triangulation of data. Noteworthy is the fact that the Hospital had suffered a municipal public intervention for nearly three years ago, changing the framework of management. It was identified that the Hospital A does not have a Health Services Waste Management Plan, and there are cultural and financial factors that compromise the management of it. Although after the public intervention the Hospital has been adapting to the laws, there are yet factors that need to be rethought on the management of waste.
