Educação ambiental como ferramenta para cuidados com os animais domésticos e silvestres

Abstract

The coexistence between humans and animals, established thousands of years ago, has brought many benefits. However, it has resulted in serious problems that are visible today, such as the killing of wild animals on highways and the overpopulation of abandoned domestic animals on the streets, causing public health risks. The objective of this work was to raise awareness of the population of the city of Santiago, the importance of adopting and caring for animals, whether domestic, sometimes wild, and living near the highways. Environmental education campaigns were carried out emphasizing the importance of adopting at Atílio Nicola School of Education, collection of abandoned animal food, delivery of flyers with adoption stories, campaign with stickers for cars to drive with attention. It is known that several socio-environmental problems occur due to lack of information of the people, and through environmental education activities in schools, it is possible to make people aware of the importance of conserving and respecting species. Research will be continued, with the belief that wildlife and domestic animals need human attention.
