dc.description.abstract | Objective: to characterize the knowledge of adolescents on STI, the use of condoms and the knowledge acquired
about this theme in sexual education workshops, in a public school. Method: transversal study, with a quantitative
approach. The researchers were 43 adolescents with mean age of 14.86 of both sex. The data collection was carried
through of questionnaire distributed to adolescents in the classroom, after conducting workshops on sexual
education. The results were organized in tables and analyzed based bibliographies, all after approved favorable from
the Research Ethics Committee nº17829918.6.0000.5346. Results: It was found that 91% of the participants already
knew about STI before the workshops. The HIV and syphilis were the most known STI in the sample. 93% of the
sample reported that condoms are the best method of prevention STI, in contrast, a significant percentage of
participants reported not using them (47%). The workshop about STI brought knowledge the other forms of STI
contagion for 46% of adolescents, it has however shown doubt understanding whether or not having an STI increases
the chances of catching other STI and HIV / AIDS. Conclusion: The adolescents have previous knowledge about
STI and that HIV and syphilis are the infections most known to them. Adolescents demonstrated knowledge about
the importance of condom use in preventing STI, however, a significant percentage of participants do not use it. The
workshop about STI proved to bring clarity to adolescents about the different forms of STI contagion, one workshop
shown to be fall short for less frequent questions in the daily lives of interviewed. | eng |

dc.description.resumo | Objetivo: Caracterizar o conhecimento de adolescentes quanto as IST, o uso do preservativo e o conhecimento
adquirido acerca dessa temática em oficinas de educação sexual, em uma Escola Pública Estadual. Método: Estudo
transversal, com abordagem quantitativa. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram 43 adolescentes, com média de idade de
14,86 de ambos os sexos. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de questionário distribuído aos adolescentes em
sala de aula, após a realização de oficinas sobre educação sexual. Os resultados foram organizados em tabelas e
analisados à luz da literatura, após parecer favorável do Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa nº17829918.6.0000.5346.
Resultados: Verificou-se que 91% dos participantes já tinha conhecimento sobre as IST antes das oficinais. O HIV
e a sífilis foram as IST mais conhecidas pela amostra. 93% da amostra afirma que o preservativo é o melhor método
de prevenção contra as IST, em contrapartida, um percentual significativo dos participantes relatou não o utilizar
(47%). A oficina sobre IST trouxe conhecimentos sobre outras formas de contágio das IST para 46% dos
adolescentes, entretanto ainda demonstraram dúvidas ao entender se o fato de apresentar uma IST aumenta ou não
as chances de pegar outras IST e HIV/AIDS. Conclusão: Os adolescentes possuem conhecimento prévio sobre IST
e que o HIV e a sífilis são as infecções mais conhecidas por eles. Os adolescentes demonstraram ter conhecimento
quanto a importância do uso do preservativo na prevenção contra as IST, entretanto, um percentual significativo de
participantes não faz o uso desse. A oficina sobre IST demonstrou trazer clareza para os adolescentes as diferentes
formas de contágio das IST, entretanto, uma única oficina demonstrou ser pouco para questionamentos menos
frequentes no cotidiano dos participantes. | por |
