Jornalismo e inovação: uma análise dos projetos financiados pelo Google News Initiative - Innovation Challenge em 2019
Abstract
Este trabalho faz um mapeamento das iniciativas selecionadas pelo programa Google News Initiative (GNI) Innovation Challenge na rodada que abrangeu o ano de 2019. O estudo tem como objetivo geral compreender de que maneira as características de inovação se manifestam nos projetos financiados pelo programa. Para examinar o conjunto de iniciativas selecionadas, utilizamos a análise de conteúdo como método de pesquisa. A rodada 2019 abrangeu quatro grandes regiões definidas pelo desafio: “América Latina”, “América do Norte”, “Ásia-Pacífico” e “Oriente Médio, África, Turquia”. A coleta de dados empíricos foi realizada entre janeiro e abril de 2020, no site do GNI Innovation Challenge e o corpus consolidado da pesquisa é de 107 projetos. As categorias de análise foram construídas com base na leitura de textos que apresentam tendências conceituais e estudos de caso, nos quais encontramos referências para o estabelecimento da seguinte classificação: inovação organizacional, inovação de processo e inovação de produto. Destacamos que, embora o Google tenha indicado diferentes temáticas para cada uma das regiões participantes, de modo geral, a rodada 2019 do GNI Innovation Challenge demonstrou especial interesse em financiar iniciativas que tenham como foco o desenvolvimento de modelos de negócio ou estratégias específicas de sustentabilidade para veículos e organizações. Essa, portanto, é uma característica relevante dos projetos selecionados e que se reflete nos resultados de nossa pesquisa. Enquadramos 65 propostas na categoria inovação organizacional, número que representa 61,3% do total de 107 projetos selecionados pelo programa. Por sua vez, as categorias inovações de processo (24 projetos) e inovações de produto (17 projetos), representam, respectivamente, 22,6% e 16% do total de projetos selecionados.
