Atuação do profissional biomédico no contexto da saúde pública

Abstract

The present study aims to (re)know the role of the Biomedical professional in the context of public health. This is a narrative review article based on bibliographic research in the databases of the Virtual Health Library (BVS), Scientific Electronic Library Online in Health Sciences (MEDLINE), with the strategy of using descriptors such as biomedicine, public health and multidisciplinary team. Using the selection criteria, there were 18 scientific productions/articles. The biomedical is one of the health area with generalist, humanist, critical and reflective training, endowed with knowledge to promote health and act at all levels of it. Although more regulations are duly authorized by the Federal Council of Biomedicine, it is observed that there are few job opportunities in the Public Health sector, whose main barrier is municipal legislation. The multidisciplinary nature of Biomedicine offers a broad view of health, necessary for work in the public area, especially in facing the crisis in public health since the end of 2019. The duly qualified biomedical doctor can carry out his activities in an integrated way with other professionals of the area and with the different practices of the unified health system. In this way, it is able to develop and implement health policies, projects, participate in municipalities, government programs, evaluate health plans and care, and collaborate in public health policies.
