dc.description.abstract | At the present moment, tests using sentences as stimulus in the noise
presence have been applied thoroughly in researches in the Audiology’s area,
because they evidence to the patient's auditory ability real in communication
situations of the day-by-day. In Brazil, the test proposed by COSTA (1998),
constituted by Lists of Sentences in Portuguese (LSP), it have being applied with
different populations and objectives, looking for to establish parameters for its
application in the clinical routine. On this way, the objective of this research was
determinate the thresholds of recognition of sentences in soundfield, with and
without the presence of competitive noise. The group of this study was constituted
of 80 normal hearing young adult individuals, 40 males and 40 females, with age
18 to 35 years. All the individuals were submitted at an interview, basic audiology
evaluation and the LSP test. The application of the test followed the ascendingdescending
strategy (Levitt & Rabiner, 1967). The Thresholds of Recognition of
Sentences in the Silence (LRSS) and in the Noise (LRSR) were obtained in
different hearing conditions in soundfield, at first in the binaural condition (both
ears), and after, in the monaural condition - right ear and left ear. In the research
of LRSR, was fixed a noise level of 65 dB A. The obtained results showed
significant difference statistically, considering the gender, only among LRSS in
the binaural condition, being the females result (22.21 dB A) better than the males
(23.90 dB A). In the monaural condition, the LRSS for the 80 evaluated
individuals, were 24.17 dB A to the left ear and 25.59 dB A to the right ear. The
signal/noise relationship found in the binaural condition, right ear and left ear,
were respectively of - 8.72, - 5.76 and - 7.10 dB. | eng |

do dia-a-dia.
constituído 80 indivíduos jovens adultos normo-ouvintes, 40 do sexo masculino e
aplicação deste seguiu a estratégia ascendente-descendente (LEVITT &
RABINER, 1967).
monoaural - orelha direita (OD) e orelha esquerda (OE).
dB A).
