A suinocultura é uma das atividade agropecuárias mais importantes para a economia do Brasil. Apesar da importância econômica é importante ressaltar que estas atividades devem aderir à práticas de gestão ambiental, a fim de minimizar os possíveis impactos ambientais. Em especial, os impactos devido ao potencial poluidor dos dejetos suínos, o qual é muito rico em matéria orgânica. Uma alternativa importante de minimizar estes impactos ambientais é o tratamento dos dejetos via o processo de biodigestão anaeróbia e consequentemente produzir o biogás, que pode ser utilizado na cogeração de energia elétrica. O monitoramento do processo de biodigestão anaeróbia pode ser considerado uma importante ferramenta para minimizar falhas, bem como aumentar a produção de biogás. Neste sentido, o objetivo deste trabalho, foi avaliar as possibilidades de melhorias no monitoramento mediante o mapeamento de uma granja e a realização de uma análise de risco. A partir dos resultados observou-se grande ganho ambiental pelas práticas adotadas pela granja. Embora, ainda existam muitos desafios e oportunidade no monitoramento do processo de biodigestão, de forma a garantir ou melhorar o desempenho do mesmo. Destacam-se o investimento em medições de vazões de efluente e biogás e parâmetros do processo, como o pH e a temperatura.
