A cidade do Futuro: Neoliberalismo, Movimento Punk e Distopia
Abstract
As cidades imaginadas nas distopias cyberpunk não nasceram do nada. Elas são fruto de uma época, a virada dos anos 1970 para os anos 1980. E tiveram, como seus nutridores, a crise econômica do capitalismo ocidental e os métodos neoliberais de superação — implementados pela cartilha econômico-político-social dos líderes Margareth Thatcher e Ronald Reagan. Porém, suas raízes se originaram no Movimento Punk. A rebeldia dos jovens punks das ruas de Londres era um misto de revolta e resistência às políticas destruidoras do welfare state. Inicialmente reconhecidos pela violência e ataques ao status quo, o punk acabou sendo incorporado pela arte, em especial a música e a literatura, mas também pela moda. Conhecer os processos históricos referentes à História das Cidades pode nos ajudar a entender como uma sociedade conseguiu se desenvolver. Da mesma forma, permite compreender quais foram os excluídos em sua construção e o porquê. A literatura, por outro lado, pode nos ajudar a entender como as pessoa perceberam tal construção. Ao buscarmos o imaginário das cidades nas distopias, adentramos nos medos, nos pesadelos, nas formas como estas seriam se assumissem a forma do pior futuro possível. Esse trabalho costura a história e a literatura para olhar as cidades imaginadas e o destino das cidades reais.
