Abstract
O presente trabalho tem como objetivo investigar o protocolo London bridge is down a partir da cobertura realizada pela mídia. Os objetivos específicos são: contextualizar o atual papel da mídia, especialmente para a Família Real; buscar informações sobre o protocolo para o funeral da Rainha Elizabeth II; investigar a execução do protocolo London Bridge is Down a partir do que foi veiculado na BBC britânica. Utiliza como técnicas metodológicas a pesquisa bibliográfica e análise documental, o trabalho tem capítulos que combinam dados empíricos e teóricos. A abordagem é qualitativa. Dentre as fontes de análise estão artigos jornalísticos relacionados a eventos significativos envolvendo a Família Real britânica, o próprio site da Família Real, um artigo com informações sobre o protocolo London bridge is down publicado em 2017 pelo jornal britânico The Guardian e vídeos da BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation). Os resultados revelam vários aspectos do protocolo, tanto do funeral em si como da atuação da imprensa. Ainda, destacam uma relação complexa entre a mídia e a Família Real, permitem notar que a cobertura midiática possui influência na construção de narrativas de entendimento público sobre a monarquia. Também são considerados os avanços da mídia e da tecnologia o que afeta a rapidez e amplitude da disseminação de informações. O trabalho destaca a importância de uma abordagem estratégica ao que diz respeito à gestão da imagem pública da Família Real e a organização de seus eventos, preservando a integridade e relevância da monarquia.
