Trabalhadoras em pauta: uma análise de conteúdo das matérias sobre trabalho feminino no jornal alternativo Nós Mulheres

Abstract

Created by feminist activists during the Brazilian military regime along with hundreds of other alternative newspapers in opposition to the dictatorship (KUCINSKI, 2018), Nós Mulheres circulated between 1976 and 1978, in Brazil. Addressing issues of interest to women at the time, such as motherhood and cost of living, the periodical dealt with female work centrally, mentioning it in all eight of its editions. Therefore, this monograph has the general objective of analyzing the publications of the alternative newspaper Nós Mulheres on female work. The specific objectives are to map the feminist press that circulated in Brazil during the dictatorial regime; catalog the newspaper editions; classify the main issues related to female work; and count the frequency with which these topics appear. To this end, the Content Analysis method was used (Bardin, 2011), which enabled, for example, the coding of content and the making of inferences that led to the confirmation of the research's guiding hypothesis: that the newspaper addresses women's work among from different angles, tensioning it with other issues related to the struggle and experiences of women at the time. The analysis shows that the newspaper emphasized the importance of wages and the centrality of the economic issue, which guided much of the discussions on female work proposed by Nós Mulheres.
