Estudo de demanda para o curso de bacharelado em estatística: vestibular 2009 UFSM

Abstract

The aim of this work is to make a study of demand in order to assess the interest of students in the final year of High School (3° year) and students from courses od preparation for the vestibular (Brazilian national exam to ingress in a graduation course) in the city of Santa Maria-RS, regarding the possibility of ingressing in the new gradute course of bachelor's degree in Statitistics – nocturnal course, at UFSM (Universidade Federal de Santa Maria), in 2009. The survey was applied in federal, public and private schools, and in the main pre-vestibular courses in the city. The methodology used was the descriptive field research, with quantitative approach. It was executed through a closed questionnaire, specially planned for this study and applied in two situations: firstly, selectively, in 347 high-school students from public and private schools; secondly, randomly, in 1000 pre-vestibular students in the city. In face of the results obtained, it was made the eletronic tabulation and the analysis of the collected data, through the application of tools from the the descriptive analysis, providing charts and graphics to express the opinion of the interviewed people. Analyzing the results, it was possible to conclude that there will be a satisfactory number of students interested in ingress in the new course from UFSM, allowing, thus, an important contribution for the social system, due to the relevance of the Statistics' role in the Education.
