Educação ambiental voltada a piscicultura praticada por pequenos produtores rurais

Abstract

This paper aimed at identifying the knowledge that small farmers in Sapiranga, Brazil, have about the fishing they are holding on their properties in order to analyze, from the point of view of environmental education, if they are consistent with the sustainability of this activity. The survey sought to make a survey of data in order to investigate whether the creators follow the legal guidance to the planning and achievement of the activity; to know the notions that farmers have of their reflexes of fish farming on the environment; to identify the uses of techniques and sustainable management in the creation, and to realize sources of learning, orientation and support to the development of fish. The research was semi-structured type with field visits, having as researched population, the small farmers of Sapiranga city- RS. The data collected and analyzed, over the point of view of Environmental Education, showed that the population has important knowledge about the environmental matters and presents a need for information about environmental impacts and about the environmental legislation applied to the fish activity. The survey revealed the necessity of specialized technical support and subsidies so that the fish activity of the region becomes economically feasible. They can contribute to the families’ income without creating environmental damage. It can be concluded that the population of fish creators involved has potential to learn and interest to know about the sustainable fishing, opening an actuation field to the Environmental Education professionals. The notions of citizenship present in the researched population associated to a multidisciplinary work involving the Environmental Education will conduct the fish activity of the region to social patterns, economical and ecologically sustainable.
