Abstract
Este estudo examina o poder além das fronteiras, focando na China e sua história política para explorar como estratégias não convencionais transcendem a força bruta. Destaca o poder suave, enfatizando o uso do esporte como ferramenta de influência comportamental. Ao longo de um século da história chinesa, desde a República da China até o governo de Hu Jintao, analisa as táticas diplomáticas e culturais chinesas para expandir sua influência global. O texto aprofunda a relação entre esporte, cultura e poder, evidenciando casos como a diplomacia do pinguepongue nos anos 70, demonstrando o esporte como uma poderosa ferramenta diplomática na normalização de relações entre nações. Destaca figuras como Yao Ming, o jogador de basquete cuja carreira na NBA promoveu entendimento entre China e EUA. Os Jogos Olímpicos de Pequim em 2008 são apresentados como marco estratégico, promovendo a cultura chinesa, consolidando sua posição global, mas também destacando críticas sobre liberdade e direitos humanos, revelando desafios na construção efetiva do poder suave chinês.
