dc.description.abstract | Depression in the childhood has been described since the beginning of the
century XX. However, it was, only starting from the decade of 60, that the
investigations began to be systematized. In the last years, the infantile depression
has been object of studies in several countries in an including way and, since then,
your presence was confirmed in the field of infantile psychopathologic. Among the
symptoms that deserve prominence, the low self-esteem, the sadness, can be
mentioned the frustration, the fears and the low school revenue, could be associated
somatic symptoms as migraine, vomits and diarrhea, besides delinquents conducts.
Some authors describe the difficulties of standardization of criteria diagnoses, as well
as the variability of the population studied in the age group in study, for the difficulty
that the child has of your expression suffering, and those difficulties can be the
responsible for the disparity in the found epidemic indexes, but nor for that
you/he/she is possible to deny the occurrence of the disease in child. Leaving of the
exposed the present work is resulted of the project of research of conclusion of the
course of Specialization in Educational Administration of Santa Maria's Federal
University. Has as objective investigates the managers' conception in relation to the
infantile depression in different school systems: public (state and municipal) and
matter. The theoretical referential of the research to pass by authors that approach
aspects on depression, infantile depression and school administration as: Del Porto
(2000), Cruvinel (2003), Brunet and Brunet (1994), Bordignon (2001) and Libâneo
(2001), respectively. Starting from the bibliographical research, he/she took place
he/she researches of field, in which the instruments used in the collection of data
they were glimpsed and questionnaires. With the accomplishment of the research
school managers were close to clear school, that most of the interviewees doesn't
notice that the infantile depression is part of the school reality and, consequently, the

dc.description.resumo | Quadros depressivos na infância têm sido descritos desde o início do século
XX. Entretanto, foi somente a partir da década de 60, que as investigações
começaram a ser sistematizadas. Nos últimos anos, a depressão infantil tem sido
objeto de estudos em vários países de forma abrangente e, a partir daí, foi
confirmada a sua presença no campo de psicopatologia infantil. Entre os sintomas
que podem indicar um quadro depressivo destacam-se a baixa auto-estima, a
tristeza, a frustração, os medos e o baixo aproveitamento escolar, podendo estar
associados sintomas somáticos como cefaléia, vômitos e diarréia, além de condutas
delinqüentes. Alguns autores descrevem as dificuldades de padronização de
critérios e diagnósticos, bem como a variabilidade da população estudada na faixa
etária em estudo, pela dificuldade que a criança tem de expressar seu sofrimento,
sendo que essa dificuldade pode ser a responsável pela disparidade nos índices
epidemiológicos encontrados, mas nem por isso é possível negar a ocorrência da
doença em criança. Partindo do exposto o presente trabalho é resultado do projeto
de pesquisa de conclusão do curso de Especialização em Gestão Educacional da
Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. Teve como objetivo investigar a concepção
dos gestores em relação à depressão infantil em diferentes sistemas escolares:
público (estadual e municipal) e particular da cidade de Santa Maria - RS. O
referencial teórico da pesquisa perpassa autores que abordam aspectos sobre
depressão, depressão infantil e gestão escolar como: Del Porto (2000), Cruvinel
(2003), Moreno e Moreno (1994), Bordignon (2001) e Libâneo (2001),
respectivamente. A partir da pesquisa bibliográfica, realizou-se pesquisa de campo,
tendo sido utilizado para coleta de dados um instrumento de pesquisa com questões
semi-estruturadas. Com a realização da pesquisa junto a gestores escolares ficou
claro, que a maior parte dos entrevistados não percebe que a depressão infantil faz
parte da realidade escolar e, conseqüentemente, o conhecimento sobre o assunto é
