Síndromes paraneoplásicas em cães: revisão de literatura
Abstract
O aumento da expectativa de vida dos animais de companhia foi uma consequência direta da melhoria dos cuidados veterinários, associado à maior preocupação dos proprietários com a qualidade de vida dos seus animais. Entretanto, essa maior sobrevida predispõe a maior incidência dos problemas degenerativos, entre eles o câncer. Secundariamente às neoplasias pode-se encontrar as síndromes paraneoplásicas. As síndromes paraneoplásicas compreendem as alterações metabólicas e/ou clínicas que acompanham os processos tumorais, que representam uma série de efeitos combinados e promovidos em outros órgãos, distantemente da origem tumoral, primária ou metastática. Podem se apresentar com malignidade variável de maior ou menor intensidade, cuja incidência e diagnóstico na veterinária são pouco estudados. As principais síndromes paraneoplásicas descritas em cães incluem a caquexia, febre e as alterações hematológicas; alterações neurológicas, endócrinas e tegumentares também são descritas, com menor frequência. O mecanismo de ocorrência da maioria destas síndromes não está estabelecido ou não é bem compreendido. O conhecimento dos problemas associados ao câncer é fundamental para a melhor capacitação dos clínicos que atuam na oncologia veterinária, proporcionando melhores opções de tratamento e melhor resultado final.
