Os operários da Viação Férrea do Rio Grande do Sul: entre a radicalização e o consenso (1917-1936)
Abstract
Esta monografia busca apresentar um breve esforço de síntese para a compreensão da atuação política da categoria dos operários da Viação Férrea do Rio Grande do Sul, com foco na cidade de Santa Maria, principal entroncamento ferroviário do Estado, no período de 1917 – momento em que ocorreu uma grande e massiva greve dos ferroviários contra a exploração da empresa estrangeira, a Compagnie Auxiliaire des Chemins du Fer au Bresil –, até 1936, quando se desenvolveu outra parede, que nasceu nas bases, sem apoio do sindicato “oficial”, contra a quebra de acordo salarial com o Governo Estadual de Flores da Cunha. Esta monografia busca, também, entender as estratégias políticas adotadas por esta categoria no contexto da luta de classes do período recortado, entendendo que este estudo ilustra um exemplo da atuação dos trabalhadores em suas lutas durante o Século XX.
