A obrigatoriedade do estudo da história e cultura afro-brasileira: um desafio aos gestores escolares

Abstract

This research aims to address issues of ethnic and racial relations in the school context, taking into account the perceptions that managers have about: black identity and racial equality in the school environment. Management interested in the education of ethnic-racial relations can help children, particularly black children, to seek and recognize their identity through images, content and representations that are in an environment where they spend much of their time, school. Therefore, it is desirable to intensify a critical look at this theme for the school play will not prejudice. This work was conducted with managers of three schools in the municipality of Santa Maria / RS, randomly chosen, two state and one private (in order to compare different realities) aiming to understand the perceptions of managers in the face of ethnic relations in the school environment and whether these have knowledge of affirmative action policies aimed at racial equality in the school context. The survey results show that managers should talk more about the ethnic-racial and that blacks should not be remembered only in dates, but throughout the school year.
