Índice de massa corporal e o nível de atividade física de estudantes do ensino fundamental do município de Campo Bom
Abstract
A obesidade é uma doença crônica caracterizada pelo acúmulo de tecido adiposo em relação à massa magra que pode afetar a saúde. Sua incidência vem aumentando de forma alarmante no Brasil e no mundo, sendo hoje considerada pela OMS como uma verdadeira epidemia de saúde pública mundial. O excesso de peso na infância acontece geralmente por uma combinação de fatores, incluindo, entre outros, alterações nutricionais, hábitos alimentares inadequados, predisposição genética, estilo de vida, condição socioeconômica, fatores psicológicos, etnia e, principalmente, o sedentarismo. As altas taxas de prevalência da obesidade infantil preocupam profissionais de todas as áreas da saúde, pois doenças como hipertensão, doenças cardiovasculares, diabetes mellitus tipo 2, entre outras, há alguns anos eram atribuídas somente a adultos, hoje já são frequentes em crianças. Diagnosticar a obesidade na infância é de difícil e questionável avaliação devido à intensa modificação da estrutura corporal da criança; já o tratamento representa grande desafio. O fator determinante, na estratégia de combater e reduzir os índices atuais, é a prevenção. Esta pesquisa buscou formar uma rede de informações para possíveis discussões acerca dos índices obtidos na avaliação antropométrica e do nível de atividade física dos alunos da Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Duque de Caxias. A Educação Física infantil no município possui programa de conteúdo baseado na Lei de Diretrizes e Base, e conta com profissionais de muitas áreas, inclusive Educação Física buscando pela Educação a promoção da saúde e da educação da população infantil, ser mais uma ferramenta efetiva de formação do cidadão.
