Altas habilidades/superdotação: problematizações a respeito do número de matrículas no município de Agudo/RS

Abstract

This conclusion work of the Special Night Education Course of the Federal University of Santa Maria, on the subject of High Abilities/Giftedness, needs to be publicized so that a greater number of education professionals can know it, in order to promote the inclusion of this student. With regard to this subject, many are the doubts and questions about who these subjects are, which can impair the identification and care of these students. Thus, the objective of this research was to problematize the Educational Attendance to the student with High Abilities/Giftedness in the municipality of Agudo from the mapping of enrollments in the municipal and state education network. As a methodology, this writing is delimited as qualitative, of the type of case study, having as instrument of data collection semistructured interview with the Special Educators acting in the municipality and information provided by the Municipal and State Coordinating Departments of Education of said city via e-mail. Due to personal and professional experiences in this locality by the researcher of this work, in which the enrollment of students with High Abilities/Giftedness in the largest school in the municipal school network was not verified, questions that raised the desire to research in this reality were structured. To support the production, authors who lectured on the subject were recruited (RENZULLI; REIS, 1997; RENZULLI, 2004; 2014; VIRGOLIM, 2007; FREITAS; PÉREZ, 2009, 2014, 2016; FLEITH, 2007, 2014), as well as national public policies that guarantee the right of this public (BRASIL, 2008). Thus, data found from this research were analyzed through the qualitative analysis and pointed out relevant aspects to understand the information provided by the Coordinators and those provided by the Special Educators who participated in the interviews. Through the interviews, three students identified with High Abilities/Giftedness and six that are being observed and going through this identification process were pointed out. It was found that the lack of knowledge of education professionals is one of the main factors for the low number of students identified and in process of identification in the municipality. Also, it was pointed ou t the need for teacher training, dialogue between Special Educators and greater encouragement from the Municipal Education Secretariat. In relation to the state education network, it has already begun to recognize these students in the school spaces, promoting the formation of teachers and directing the identification of these students in the state schools of Agudo.
