A educação ambiental no ensino médio, produção de lixo e reciclagem na turma do segundo ano da Escola Estadual Rocha Pombo

Abstract

The research developed as a conclusion work in the postgraduate course in Environmental Education EAD of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), sought to investigate the knowledge about Environmental Education and recycling of the high school students of Rocha Pombo State High School , located in the municipality of Crissiumal-RS. The participation in the questionnaire applied to the students of the classes of the first and second year of high school, had 33 students, 21 of the first and 12 of the second year. This questionnaire aimed to promote the construction of a critical awareness of the students with the environment and its preservation. Their responses contributed to the development of this research. In the analysis of the answers it was possible to identify that there is knowledge about the theme, only some terms that cover Environmental Education were unknown but their meaning did not. After the questionnaire, the students of the second year began to collect the trash they produced during the classes, papers for the recycling of the same, throughout the month of August this material was collected, and later part of it was recycled. Moments of debate about the issue of consumerism and sustainability have become necessary to understand the capitalist system, the need to understand what is needed, and to seek information to be able to define what is really needed and what are superfluous products. At the end of this process a new questionnaire was carried out, containing three open questions, to verify if the pedagogical activities had an expected effect. Given this, it was possible to verify that there was learning, that the theoretical and practical activities should be permanent, because environmental education is a process of reeducation, changes of attitudes, and constants.
