Influência de diferentes plantas de cobertura em alguns componentes e na produtividade final de grãos de milho (Zea mays)
Abstract
O presente trabalho tem por objetivo avaliar o uso de diferentes plantas de cobertura no inverno, cultivadas de forma solteiras ou consorciadas, e a sua relação com os componentes de produtividade da cultura do milho. O experimento foi conduzido na área experimental da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria – campus Frederico Westphalen. A cultura do milho foi implantada em sucessão sobre a palhada já manejada e dessecada das culturas de cobertura. O experimento foi realizado em delineamento inteiramente casualisado, composto por sete tratamentos: T1 - aveia preta; T2 - centeio, aveia preta, nabo forrageiro e aveia branca; T3 - ervilha forrageira, centeio, aveia branca, nabo forrageiro; T4 - aveia branca, aveia preta, ervilhaca e centeio; T5 - aveia branca, centeio, ervilhaca e nabo forrageiro; T6 - nabo forrageiro; T7 - ervilhaca. As variáveis avaliadas foram a produtividade, peso de espiga, número de fileiras por espiga, número de grãos por espiga, peso de grãos por espiga e o peso de mil grãos da cultura posterior (milho). Para a produtividade o T7, composto de ervilhaca solteira, apresentou o melhor desempenho com 6.486 kg ha-1. Para o peso de espiga, T7, T5 e T6 mostraram-se superiores aos demais tratamentos com resultados de 0,150 kg, 0,140 kg e 0,137 kg, respectivamente. Para a variável número de fileiras por espiga, os tratamentos não diferiram estatisticamente entre si, apresentando resultados próximos a 16 fileiras/espiga. Em relação ao número de grãos por espiga, T7 obteve o maior resultado (493 grãos/espiga), diferindo estatisticamente dos demais tratamentos. Na variável peso de grãos por espiga, o T7, T5 e T6 obtiveram um resultado maior em relação aos demais (0,128 kg, 0,121 kg, 0,117 kg, respectivamente), e para a variável peso de mil grãos, os tratamentos T5, T1, T7 e T6 se sobressaíram (0,243 kg, 0,233 kg, 0,231 kg e 0,231 kg, respectivamente). Sendo assim, pode-se destacar que a utilização, principalmente de ervilhaca antecedendo o milho, além do uso de cobertura de plantas que não sejam gramíneas, demonstrou um maior ganho de produtividade e de demais componentes de rendimento.
