Luxação patelar medial bilateral e displasia coxofemoral bilateral em um gato – relato de caso
Abstract
A luxação patelar e a displasia coxofemoral são doenças raras em gatos, mais comumente estudadas em cães, sendo até os dias atuais um desafio para os clínicos e cirurgiões veterinários. Algumas pesquisas têm relatado a alta prevalência dessas alterações ortopédicas em algumas raças felinas, sugerindo uma predisposição genética. A displasia coxofemoral ocorre, em gatos, de forma silenciosa, sem a apresentação de sinais clínicos, e, por esta razão, os cruzamentos em busca de características fenotípicas resultaram na inclusão dessa predisposição genética nas progênies sem o conhecimento dos criadores. Embora a associação de luxação patelar com displasia coxofemoral em gatos esteja sendo relatada, ela ainda não está sendo considerada um problema clínico importante, deixando de ser investigada pelos clínicos veterinários. A presente monografia objetiva revisar a literatura e relatar o caso de um gato, fêmea, com cinco meses de idade, atendido em uma clínica particular na cidade de Caxias do Sul, RS, Brasil que apresentou excelente recuperação após intervenção cirúrgica.
