A recente popularização dos veículos elétricos vem trazendo benefícios ao meio ambiente, como os relacionados à redução das emissões dos gases do efeito estufa. Atualmente, devido a grande demanda por veículos elétricos e dispositivos portáteis, as matérias-primas que compõem as baterias de íons de lítio estão ficando cada vez mais escassas e caras, tornando o mercado da reciclagem muito atrativo e promissor. Contudo, grande parte das matérias-primas ainda são extraídas de fontes naturais, ocasionando problemas ambientais e, muitas vezes, sociais onde a exploração destes recursos é realizada de maneira irregular. Para tanto, o presente trabalho buscou analisar a viabilidade técnica e econômica da reciclagem de baterias de íons de lítio, com foco na recuperação do material catódico NMC (LiNi0,33Co0,33Mn0,33O2) pela sua ampla utilização na atualidade, tendo em vista o foco na economia circular deste material, visando reinseri-lo na cadeia produtiva de baterias de íons de lítio. Para esse objetivo, tendo como referência o que é praticado em outros países, espera-se reciclar anualmente 3350 toneladas de baterias de íons de lítio, gerando um total de 1632,30 toneladas de material catódico NMC por ano, sendo a unidade industrial localizada em Campinas-SP. O investimento para o empreendimento é de R$202.710.194,50. Assim, espera-se um payback no sétimo ano com uma Taxa Interna de Retorno de 26,66%, em comparação a uma Taxa Média de Atratividade de 13,75% ao ano, apresentando deste modo uma viabilidade teórica da aplicação deste empreendimento em solo nacional, considerando maiores avanços neste mercado nos próximos anos no Brasil.
