Gestão de segurança pública do estado do Rio Grande do Sul: proteção social a familiares de policiais militares mortos em serviço

Abstract

Public security and studies on violence have become increasingly relevant, especially in the academic debate as an epistemological field in formation. Public security issues in Brazil have always been treated from a perspective strictly related to safeguarding sovereignty. Most research on Human Rights and public security issues is reserved for verifying the relationship between police actions and the defense or violation of Human Rights. The chosen theme: Public Security Management and women widows of police officers killed on the job, deserves to be rescued because this reality of life felt by women who assume the responsibility of safeguarding the care of their partner's family and assumes relevance in the sense of look at this reality because, in some way, they are made invisible, as their real living conditions, as well as those of their family members, are not known, due to the loss due to death on the job of their fellow police officers. The problem that guided this study is: How does the State, through the Public Security Secretariat of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, guarantee protection for the families of military police officers killed on the job? To this end, we present the following General Objective: To understand how Public Security Management in the State of RS has, or has not, offered support to the families of police officers killed on the job. To provide a theoretical and methodological basis for the research, some themes were explored during the theoretical foundation, they are: Family, State and Public Security, meaning of work, ethics and Human Rights in the work of Military Police. Furthermore, we sought to illustrate the scenario of research on human rights and public security by bringing the reality of research on these topics in Brazil. The methodology of the work used the theoretical perspective in Marx, aiming to give visibility to the epistemological field and guide the study. The documentary research unfolded by analyzing important documents to understand how the State's public management serves bereaved families. The results showed that there are several legal guarantees and benefits for these families, however the actions to guarantee these rights are not transparent. In this sense, we sought to present an intervention proposal so that the accessibility of these benefits can be ascertained.
