dc.description.abstract | This study, linked to the research line " Educação Especial, Inclusão e Diferença", of
the Doctorate in Education, in the Programa de Pós-graduação em Educação of the
Universidade Federal de Santa Maria- RS, aims at understanding how the trajectory
of life, formation and teaching performance of a blind teacher in Basic Education is
constituted. Specifically, the study analyzed the public policies for inclusion, which
allow the access and the permanence of the person with a disability along the
educational path, as well as the exercise of the chosen profession; problematized the
evolution of social and educational rights of the blind people and interpreted the
narrative of life, training and teaching performance of Daverlan Dalla Lana Machado,
a blind teacher from the Municipal Network of Santa Maria, RS. From the immersion
carried out to reach each one of these objectives and based on the analysis of
Daverlan Dalla Lana Machado's life narrative, we defend the thesis that the evolution
of social and educational rights of blind people, public policies for school inclusion,
academic and in the world of work, as well as assistive technology, are not the only
factors that allow and boost the career of a blind teacher. There is another, decisive
one, which is self-efficacy, the main mechanism of self-regulation of human agency, a
pillar of Albert Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory (SCT). The basic research, with a
qualitative approach, had as its procedure the narrative research. The theoretical basis
of the study is anchored in sessions that discuss the Public Policies for Inclusion,
concepts, and historical contextualization of visual impairment - Blindness and the
Narrative of Life and its formative importance. For the production of data, we used as
an instrument the narrative interview with Daverlan Dalla Lana Machado, a blind
teacher, a teacher of the initial years of elementary school, from the Municipal
Education Network of Santa Maria (RS). This was carried out under all the ethical
procedures of research involving human beings, as well as the consent of the
participant with the publication of his name. The data produced were analyzed using
the categorical analysis proposed by Bardin (2011). The findings came to meet the
hypotheses and objectives of the study, which brought into vogue an innovative theme
since the professional performance of blind people deserves discussions and
reflections in the field of scientific research to contribute to the right to work of their
choice, happens in an accessible environment and on equal terms with all people, as
well as point out the potential of these subjects and bring a new reflection from the
SCT, and its concepts of human agency and self-efficacy. This bias of the study allows
other blind people to understand their potentialities and, mainly, that they are agents
in the course of their lives. Moreover, for the community in general, the study points to
the possibility of a new look for people with disabilities, which perhaps has not yet been
fully achieved by scientific productions in the area. It is believed that this research does
not exhaust the theme, but raises questions for future studies, which give voice and
serve as inspiration to the academy, people with disabilities, and the community in
general, minimizing the barriers that still exist for the exercise of the right to work
according to professional training. | eng |

Especificamente, o estudo analisou as políticas públicas
ao longo da trajetória formativa, bem como o exercício da profissão escolhida;
procedimento a pesquisa narrativa.
